how our csa works
Our CSA program offers a minimum of 18 very generous weekly distributions to our members starting the first week of June and continuing through the second week of October.
Our members can choose from either a ‘market-style’ distribution with a pick-up at the garden or a boxed-share with pick-up locations in Torrington or Norfolk. Because we know that not everyone enjoys eating the same types of things (or even the same things every week!) we do our best to keep your preferences in mind when customizing YOUR share each week.
With your Heritage Gardens CSA you get only what you want and nothing you don’t!
From a happy member:
The quantity and quality of the food we received was easily worth the up-front cost.
In addition, knowing that a huge portion of this healthy bounty is being made available to several local food organizations at a time when access to affordable, fresh food seems to be getting out of reach for many, reminds me continually that our participation in this CSA reaches far beyond our own dinner table. That is important to me.
Why a csa?
Community Supported Agriculture has become a popular way for consumers to buy local fresh produce directly from the farmer.
As a member of our CSA program you will be providing much needed funding in the beginning of the year to purchase seeds, supplies, equipment, and labor to get the season underway.
Visit our LocalHarvest.org profile to learn more about the many benefits to yourself, the farmer, and the community when you participate in a CSA.
How to join?
To become a member of the Heritage Gardens CSA simply fill out the online registration and choose your payment method. If you prefer to send a check you can print the registration form and send to the indicated address with payment. We offer a variety of payment options to accommodate any budget.
New registrations are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Availability is limited. To ensure a space please submit your registration as soon as possible.
Your support is vital to helping us continue our mission of providing an abundance of high-quality, organically grown produce to the food banks and soup kitchens in our community.
what will I get?
Our CSA members are treated to the largest selection of fresh vegetables, herbs, and cut flowers possible each week. The weekly shares are quite generous, and, on average, you will receive over 10 types of vegetables each week (sometimes as many as 15 or more during mid-summer). Fresh herbs and flowers are also included in your membership at no extra charge.
With more than 30 different crops and dozens of varieties of spring, summer, and fall garden favorites, our members always have plenty to choose from to create their own special basket to take home.
What does it cost?
Our 18 week full-share subscription is a great value, costing only $480 ($450 if you register by January 30) for an entire season of the highest-quality, straight-from-the-garden produce.
The half-share price is $300 ($280 if registering by January 30).
